Join us for an in-person workshop at Stellenbosch University!

A comprehensive in-person drug discovery workshop will be held in October 2025 at our regional training hub in Stellenbosch, South Africa. This workshop will offer PhD students and early-career researchers an introduction to the drug discovery process, with a focus on disease areas relevant to the African continent. The goal will be to raise awareness of the various drug discovery tools that are available, how these can be accessed, their limitations and the expertise required to implement them.

WHEN: 22–25 October 2025

WHERE: In-person at Stellenbosch University

Submit Compounds to the EU-OPENSCREEN Academic Compound Library

Organic chemists produce numerous compounds, often designed for specific activities against specific targets or phenotypes. Typically, only a few of the most promising compounds are advanced in further studies. The vast majority are ultimately stored unused, despite the significant resources invested in their production.

To address this gap, EU-OPENSCREEN, the coordinating body of RAFIKI, is developing the European Academic Compound Library (EACL). Through this publicly funded open-access initiative, EU-OPENSCREEN invites chemists from around the world to submit compounds to the EACL, where they are tested for biological activities and integrated into collaborative screening campaigns at accredited EU-OPENSCREEN partner sites.
